Calls received at night and at weekends will always be dealt with. In general the deputising services are used for these times.

If you do contact the surgery on 01204 468161 the call will be answered by a recorded message giving details of how to contact the duty doctor. It will be necessary to make a further telephone call so remember to have a pen and paper to jot down the number.

Out of Hours Service

Out of Hours is a service to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services in England when your GP practice is closed. You can call them when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency.

When to use it:

You should use the Out of Hours service if you need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.

Call Out of Hours if:

  • You need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency.
  • You think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service.
  • You need health information or reassurance about what to do next.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens. Please remember that any doctor on call at night, including deputising doctors, have been working all day and will be working the following day.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

NHS 111

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally.

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

  • Treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.

Click here to access NHS 111 online or call 111 to speak to a staff member.

Saturday Appointments

On Saturdays, our service is for scheduled appointments only. If you need to seek urgent medical attention please ring the out of hours service on 0161 763 8940 or 111
